Contrary to popular belief, Photo-Manipulation did not begin with the invention of Photoshop. Photo-manipulation was has been arund since the 1860's.

Reijlander's “The Two Ways of Life” was assembled from posed figures in thirty different negatives to produce an action-packed Victorian crowd scene comparing two paths of a man’s life.
